How to type i diaeresis (ï)

Windows

Hold Alt and type 0239 on the numeric keypad.

Option + U, then I

Ctrl + Shift + :, then i — or type 00EF then Alt + X

Insert → Special characters → i diaeresis

Click the keycap, then paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.

Num Lock on, hold Alt, type 0239, release Alt.
