About the Delta

The Delta (Δ, U+0394) the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet — the uppercase Δ means "change" across mathematics and science.

Greek letters pull double duty as technical symbols across mathematics, physics, and engineering, which is why they're searched far more often than a 24-letter alphabet would suggest.

The copy button above is fastest for a one-off. If you need Δ often, use its Unicode value 394 — in Word, type it and press Alt+X; on Windows, the Character Map app (search "Character Map" in Start) inserts it into any program.

In Unicode it lives in the Greek and Coptic block, so it behaves the same everywhere Unicode is supported — which today means virtually every device, app, and browser. Related symbols: Omega, Pi, Alpha.
